Bozena Goraj graduated from the Medical University in Lodz, Poland, where she also completed her specialization in radiology. Early in her radiological carrier she decided to focus on Neuroimaging . In 1986 she was awarded a title of a doctor of medical sciences based on the thesis on value of the transfontanellar Ultrasound in the Neuropediatric diseases. She complemented her training obtained in Poland with Fellowship in Neuroradiology in New York Medical College and several internationally organized courses in Neuroradiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology. In 1993 she became a head of the newly created Department of Diagnostic Imaging in the Pediatric Division of the Polish Mother Health Center in Lodz, the position she held till September 1997 when she assumed the post of the Head of the Department of Radiology at the Medical University in Lodz and later that of a Director of the Institute of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the same University. In 1996 she received a title of doctor habilitatus based on the dissertation on the Neuroimaging in trauma patients and in 2001 she was awarded a title of the Professor of Medical Sciences by the President of Polish Republic. In 2004 she moved to Nijmegen Neherlands where she is a head of the Section of Neuroradiology at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicin ; Radboud UMC. Her research interests focus on the implementation of the new imaging techniques in the diagnostics of adult and pediatric brain.
